"The Three Wishes" children's illustrated book
This project consisted of adapting a children's story into an illustrated book, including a design (or redesign, as the case may be) of the characters, the composition of 5 or more spread illustrations (which take up two continuous pages in a book) and choosing a visual style suitable for the target audience (children aged 9 to 12).
Design of the characters of the story, a woodcutter who seeks to cut down the great oak, his wife hoping for a better life, and the tree elf who grants the woodcutter's wishes.
Sketching the compositions of the 7 illustrations, as well as the front and back covers of the book. As well as the distribution of the text boxes so that they do not interrupt the reading of the drawings and vice versa.
Definition of the line and composition of the illustrations. Inclusion of the texts of the story, respecting the margins of each page as well as the choice of a typography suitable for the target audience.
Definition of the color palette. And separation or isolation of the texts using elements of the illustration (clouds, treetops, shadows, etc.)
Definition of textures and rendering of each of the illustrations.
